AT THE COURT
JUDGE: Mr Jaguda, from the viral video before the public, you were seen carrying two bags of rice, 50kg each on your head and two big chickens with two big cans of groundnut oil from the venue during the stampede.
I put it to you that greedy people like you caused the stampede that led to the death of scores of innocent souls. Based on that, l hereby find you guilty and sentence you to ten years imprisonment without an option of fine.
ACCUSE: Objection my Lord. Point of correction, l am not an ordinary person that you can just refer to as jaguda. I am a government worker on level fifteen. So treat me with some dignity.
JUDGE: You have just added salt to an injury. For you a worker who can afford a bag of rice to have come to rob the poor, l hereby added another ten years to the former ten years to make it twenty years.
ACCUSE: My Lord, before you can sentence me, you should first go and sentence your boss, the government. Because they started it. Go and check the names of those on the social register and the names of those whom they transferred cash to whether there is any poor person among them. Let all those whom they called the poorest of the poor come out to line up and let Nigerians see them whether you will not see director generals, personnel managers, rich party chieftains and their family members and other rich individuals.
So my Lord, first take the plank from your own eyes first so that you can see clearly to take out the small dust in my eyes. The authorities have taught us that the system is called, "THE RICH GETTING RICHER WHY THE POOR ARE GETTING POORER".
