A pastor was preaching in an open crusade in a certain village. The theme of the day's preaching was:
"LEARN TO FORGIVE NO MATTER THE OFFENCE"
PASTOR: Read the book of Matthew chapter 6:14 and chapter 18: 22. There Christ taught us on the importance of forgiving one another. From the last chapter and verse, it is cleared that he told us to forgive for ever, no matter the gravity of the offence.
A YOUNG MAN: Pastor, Sir, are you saying we should forgive even those who want to take our life?
PASTOR: As Christians, we should emulate Christ. Even those who betrayed him and those who came to arrest him altogether with those who slapped him, he forgave them. Also, we Christians should emulate him and forgive.
A YOUNG MAN: Are you saying now that no matter what someone did to you, forgiveness will be your only reaction?
PASTOR: Exactly. That is why l am a man of God.
I preach what l do and will continue to do.
BRETHREN: Man of God, will you allow any man to ask the hand of your daughter in marriage?
PASTOR: As far God allows it and she also loves the man, l have no problem because she is the one who is going to stay in the marriage and not me. The Bible says "man shall leaves his parents and takes a woman as a wife and they shall become one".
A YOUNG MAN: Man of God, thank you for giving me the go ahead nod. For sometimes now, l have been wooing your daughter, Shely. I really love her because she is my missing rib. But she has consistently told me that she loves me but the only thing is for you to agree. But since you have agreed, l am going to put more effort in wooing her. She must be my wife.
PASTOR: Brethren, whosoever that knows this young man should please advise him because what is looking for blood if given oil will not take. You are just clearing the road to the prison yard. Don't ever repeat that word again or l will be forced to switch off the Christ in me to the hidden devil in me that you don't know.
If you know that your rib is missing, then go out there to look for it and not here in this my church. She agreed because she can't decides for herself on who is good and who is not good eventhough she is twenty three.
A YOUNG MAN: But man of God, you said you preach what you do and continue to do. Then, why can't you forgive me?
PASTOR: Yes, but that was just preaching and not reality but this your own is reality. I will never forgive any idiot who plays any expensive play near my daughter. My daughter will get married to either a minister, oil baron or a senator not a foolish poverty miss road wretched like you.
