Once upon a time, there were these two friends who lived in the same compound. Both of them were very poor. At a time, even to eat once a day became really very difficult. But they continued to struggle.
One day, both of them had the same type of dream.
In the dream, an Angel came to them and told them that amongst two of them one would become a billionaire the next year. He said that the only thing they need to do was to fast for seven days and pray to God at the end of the seven days.
The Angel said that they must conduct themselves closer to God. That is during the prayer, they must be very careful about what to say. That God would only answer the prayer of the person that is closer to him at the time of the prayer.
One of them then went and told his people and friends about the dream and what the Angel said. In those days, people don't tell lies and so he was believed by all who heard it. They came to a conclusion that he must be the one to get the prophesied wealth and not his other friend.
His families and friends went to different banks and they took loans worth millions for him to build a high skyscraper far into the sky so that during the prayer, he can be closer to God's abode.
Within seven months, the skyscraper was ready. Then came the day of the prayer. He climbed to the top of the skyscraper and he looked downward but he couldn't see anything because the top of the skyscraper was too for someone to see anything below.
He beamed with a smile.
"Yes, l am now closer to the throne of God. Since the Angel said that God would only answer the person who is closer to him, I must try to be that person and not that my poor wretched friend. From the very beginning, he had failed. Being my best friend, I would make him my gateman when I become the billionaire", he boasted.
As he ascended the skyscraper and got to the last top floor, he prayed like this, " Lord God, l must be the one to become the billionaire. You can see all the effort l made to get closer to you hence I took different loans worth millions of naira from the banks to build this skyscraper. Lord, if you really make me the billionaire, l shall build many churches for you all over the world and make the earth like a Paradise".
But the other poor man went to an open place and he knelt down and prayed like this, "Almighty God, I thank you for making me to see this day. Forgive me my sins and show Mercy unto me a sinner. If it pleases you the Almighty to bestow this blessing upon me, l shall help the poor and the needy as much as I can. May your will be done, Amen".
The prayers of these two men came to the heavenly abode. Then nature looked at the two men's way and manner of prayers and came to a conclusion that the one who built the skyscraper was very greedy and faithless. And as such he honours God with his lips but his heart was far away from God.
Nature saw that the other man humbled himself by kneeling on the ground and confessing his sins and at the same time thanked God to have kept him alive to that moment. And the heavens rained down the heavenly blessings upon this man and he became prosperous. He started to help the poor and the needy just as he had pledged.
The other man descended down empty handed and he was saddled with huge debts. When the blessed one saw how his former friend became more wretched and indebted, he decided in his mind to pay off his huge debts and give him money to start a good life.
But unknowingly to him, as he planned to help this wretched friend of his out of his predicament and become a free man, he had ganged up with his friends and family members to kill him and take over his wealth.
He was immediately warned by the heavenly hosts not to help his friend but to move out from that land to another land that was shown to him. He did and he became prosperous and famous all over the world till his death.
THIS STORY IS AN EYE OPENER FOR THOSE BUILDING CHURCHES OVER THE WHOLE PLACES WITH PRIDE AND ARROGANT. GOD CAN NEVER BE BRIBED OR DECEIVED! YOU CAN ONLY DECEIVED THE HUMANS.
