On the 5th of April 2024, Friday, a certain Church held a two day crusade in a village which is a few kilometres away from Okuama village.
On the first day of the crusade, there was a disagreement between the church pastor, his members and the village youths. The youths accused the church of occupying the village main road.
Now, as the argument degenerated, some voluntary organizations members who accompanied the church down, rushed to the scene to maintain peace. These were the Boys Brigades and the MAN O' WAR BAY.
When the youths saw them, they threatened to tie them up and even beat them to death.
Then the chief of the village was told about what was taking place. The seventy six years old leader took a machete and ran down to the scene. On getting there, he became mad at the village youths and he shouted at them saying:
Are you people mad?
Are you people stupid?
Are you people foolish?
Are you people crazy?
Are you people out of your mind?
Don't you people know that they are demisoldiers?
Just as the demigods stand between us and the real God also do they stand between us and the real soldiers.
VILLAGE YOUTHS: But sir, they are just voluntary organizations, Boys brigades and Man O' war bay.
VILLAGE CHIEF: Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!!! A million time.
If you should repeat that nonsense again, l will machete you.
Have you forgotten our sister's village OKUAMA?
If it happens now, you people will climb trees with your family and live there like monkeys while l will be whisk away to Abuja to be sleeping on mosquitoes infested bare floors.
Look at you foolish youths. These boys are demisoldiers.
Look at their feet, is it not the same boots soldiers wear that they wear?
Look at their waist, is it not the same belts soldiers use that they use?
Look at their heads, is not the same berets soldiers wear on their head that they also wear?
See the way their uniforms are, is it not the same pattern with that of soldiers? They are small soldiers. Very soon they will grow up.
You idiots want me to be carried to Abuja to go and suffer for what l know nothing about.
He turned to the boys and said: l beg you sirs, please see my knees on the ground. Don't mind them. I am the leader of the community.
