A GOAT IN THE LION'S DEN

One day, a certain landlord ran down to the police station to report a case of an armed robbery . The police then asked him how many the robbers were and the type of guns they were holding.

He told them that he didn't know except he would go and ask them what type of guns they were carrying and how many they were.

The policemen then told him to go and find out and come back to tell them. But he just hang around and three minutes later, he ran back to tell the police that the robbers had no guns and they were only four of them.

The police then told him to look for some able bodied men and go and bring them down to them and they would dealt with them severely.

The landlord then ran down and as usual hang around for about three minutes and he came back and told the police that they had all gone but they forgot some amount of money in his sitting room. On hearing the name of money, the police said to him, "enter the vehicle, lets go down fast".

On getting there, the police told him not to follow them into the house but that he should hide outside the building. They then said to one another, "we are going to take the money and lie to him that before we got there, the money was no longer there and as police officers, we believed that the robbers came back and collected it during the time he came to us".

But as they entered the room, unknown to them, the robbers were hiding in strategic positions inside the building. As they entered, their eyes were focused on the sitting room where they believed the money was.

But the robbers rounded them up and tied them down and took their guns and they fled. On seeing what happened, the landlord phoned the police headquarters and more policemen came to their rescue.

The landlord believed they learnt a bitter lesson for abandoning their duty.
